嗡嗎呢唄美吽-南無觀世音菩薩

嗡嗎呢唄美吽南無觀世音菩薩。
無礙。
滅定業真言(童音集)

After a long search for a new tune of chanting "Om Mani Padme Hum with chanting of Guanyin Pusa" that I heard from a retreat, I finally found something similar from the 1st song of this album. Voices from the children ...very refreshing though I would still prefer that being sung by the Venerables (with more devotion put in from my fading memory of the retreat). Was told that for this tune of chanting, there wasn't the adult version and only sung in retreats (Fahui).
I do hope that the Venerables who had recently began participating in making of new albums for WSD for free distribution could have this in mind for their next album. :-)

This album comes in a series and can be found in most stores, but my favourite hunt for such Buddhist Cds is the 3rd level store at Spore Buddhist Lodge which opens only on Sundays, manned by a group of volunteers. The prices there are usually cheaper than what I see in the market, do visit it yourself to find the great discount you can get from there. :-)

And there is a new trolley cart stall near the main shrine that sells a variety of vegetarian tibits and biscuits. Do Look out for it...:-)

COME AND SEE

It was indeed an eye-opener to attend the seminar organised by SBF on role of Buddhist Music in proprogating Buddhism. It's a pity I was late for the event and missed the earlier session of discussion.

Little did I know that Music is still not widely accepted in Buddhist circles. I recalled that one of the earlier Buddhism talks I attended was Venerable Chodron's and usually before the talks, there will be a singing session by 1 or 2 groups singing Buddhist hymns, similar to Pop and Folk songs often sang at Christian assemblies. Recently, there was also release of albums by abbot of kmspks, hence, I had always thought it was widely accepted also as a means of proprogation in Buddhism as well.

Resources not being channelled to promote Buddhist music and the need to compose new songs to suit the younger generation more receptive to pop music to Buddhism is highlighted. What also left me a deep impression is the enthusiasm displayed by Brother Daniel in trying to teach Dharma to children in Fun, Interactive & Simple (F.I.S) way. He and his passion alike Dharma friends had produced lively English children Buddhist songs.

You may refer to the demo at their web: http://www.d-kidz.com/comensee2.html.
If they could have a musical concert as what they had done overseas in S'pore, I am sure alot of young parents will support it.

Hopefully, after this seminar whereby various views were gathered, I look forward to even greater support and growth of Buddhist music to reach out to more people.
Cheers:-)

童心菩提心

I was there at Awareness Place (Bras Basah Complex) looking for Children Buddhist songs for my nephews and was recommended this CD. At 1st when I listen to it the first time, I find it too "Qing" for children. But as I listen more to it, I myself grew to love it. It consists of 16 songs. One of the songs, the music is somehow like "Ah Yo Yo Teacher"'s version & many other lively I would think is 童谣,民谣 (Folk or Country) style of music. Adults would certainly love it.

It was produced by JJ Music Production House in Malaysia & lyrics written by 2 Venerables. Strongly recommending adults to listen & sing with children:-)

Available at Awareness place (Bras Basah Complex) #01-63
I finally found this link that gives a demo of the CD songs.

Cheers :-)
