Venerable Heng Sure in Singapore 2014

This year, starting on 20-24 April 2014,  Venerable Heng Sure teaches on " Practices and Vows of Bodhisattva Samantabhadra" at Buddhist Union Dharma Center.
A good introduction made on Good Wealth (善财童子) and Samantabhadra (普贤菩萨) Bodhisattva via pictures and stories.
One is motivated to read the sutra text and learn more.
And good QnA sharing before end of talk!
Strongly encouraged to attend!

 Repentance phrases in English of
 往昔所造诸恶业
皆由无始贪嗔痴
从身语意之所生
一切我今皆忓悔
And I like his song on Dedication of merits! :-))

Last night is 25th April at Singapore Buddhist Lodge on "Buddhism and Western Values" which Venerable Heng Sure gave a good introduction of his teacher, Master Xuan Hua and his visions & achievements. ( Oh, really motivated to visit the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas in California after hearing stories of his teacher! )

Thank you Venerable for a series of wonderful sharing of the teachings over the week.
Hope to see you in Singapore again next year!

Lecture on "Universal Door Chapter 25" by Dharma Master Heng Sure in Singapore

What a coincidence, it was starting from 19th too last year that he started his series of talk.
This year from 19th-22nd Apr, 1 day more and the Lecture is on "Universal Door Chapter 25" and on the 1st nite he already made people appreciate the sutra better by using many interesting stories to illustrate benefits of reciting the name of Guanshiyin Bodhisattva; why is the Bodhisattva Guanshiyin called ‘Guanshiyin’?

His 1st song for the nite: "She carries me" by Jennifer Berezan:
"She is a boat she is a light high on a hill in dark at night
She is a wave She is the deep She is the dark where angels sleeps
when all is still and peace abides She carries me to the other side.

*Chorus
She carries me She carries me
She carries me to the other side. (x2)

And though I walk through valleys deep and shadows chases me in my sleep
On rocky clifs I stand alone I had no name I had no home
with broken wings I reach to fly she carries me to the other side.
*Chorus

A thousand arms a thousands eyes A thousands ears to hear my cries
She is the gate She is the door She leads me through and back once more.
When day has dawn When death is night She’ll carries me to the other side.
*Chorus

She is the first, she is the last she is the future and the past
Mother of all, of earth and sky She carries me to the other side
*Chorus"

~ found the lyrics at  http://www.invibes.net/she-carries-me/

He ends the nite by folk-singing "Dedication of merits".
Very enjoyable night, 3 more nites to attend...

Dharma Master Heng Sure in Singapore

Attended his 20 Nov session, not disappointing to the audience, he slanged his Mandarin, played his guitar and sang Buddhist hymns.
Addressing the topic: he related Dukka to stress and gave brief illustrations on the 8 modes of stress.
Contentment was cited as one way to cope with stress as being able to wait and be patient, one's heart will be in peace.
" One who knows contentment is always happy, one who learns patience always know peace"

For those who loves his songs, he recommended the web: http://www.dharmaradio.org/,
click on Paramita/Acts of kindness and find out how to download his album for free.
Alternatively, you may pay & download from iTunes via search for his name. :-)

He also has his own blog: http://paramita.typepad.com/ (Dharma Forest)

"The Universal Door Of The Bodhisattva Who Listens To The Sounds Of All The World"

The Universal Door Chapter (Pu Men Pin 普門品)is a very popular sutra explaining why Guanyin is known as
Guanyin (The Bodhisattva Who Listens To The Sounds Of All The World).

Glad to read the blog by Rev. Heng Sure where the English version was introduced:
