Why are we reciting the Buddha Amitabha's mantra? What is the purpose of mantra recitation?
There is a great merit from reciting the Amidewa mantra with faith and devotion, but it is of even greater benefit to truly understand its purpose.
Since beginningless time in samsara, we have habituated to a belief in a concrete reality, we cling to the inherently true existence of all appearances.
This fixation has formed a deep imprint in our mind which compels us to follow our habitual patterns of destructive thoughts such as anger, jealousy, and so forth.
