Animal Paradise

Next Animal liberation related event is today's tour of the Animal Protection farm, Animal Paradise, started by ex-Mediacorp actor, Xie Shao Guang, in JB, Pekan Nanas, . I think it started with a place for abandoned/ill-treated cats & dogs to today's operation to include horses, cows, goats, pigs, monkeys, guinea pigs, porcupines and even deers is impressive.

I was surprised that mum was interested in the trip when I just briefly mentioned about the activity organised by the temple as mum is not one who will encourage her children to touch animals. I believe it must be with blessings of Buddha & Bodhisattvas that my parents were interested and hopefully with brief contact of the Dharma teachings involved, that will lead them to more future Dharma events and also subconsciously reduce their intake of meat.

I was originally expecting the farm to be like a safari with all animals roaming freely but the animals are in enclosed area depending on their nature and receptiveness to human.

All the saved animals there have a story of their own.

Turkeys saved from being served on dining table during Christmas

Although the facilities are primitive, the liberated/saved animals are at least in a home under the love and care of the compassionate care-takers.

The farm does not accept just any animals but has their criteria of entry, hence the animals are there, each with a story of their own. It is still not easy to maintain the farm by one's own effort hence Donations are always welcome to support the operations of the animal protection farm and you may also opt to support any species of animals you like. :-) The farm is not open to public except on special/pre-arrangement so pls do not venture on your own without informing them of your visit. :P

Beautiful Photos and cute animals ...

WOW! You got your family off for a good, relaxing and special outing. Brilliant! The animals there must have touched your family's heart.

Heard that there is a Vegetarian Cafe by this ex-actor - Xie Shao Guang at JB. A Vegetarian meal there and the visit to this Animal Paradise would definitely an interesting topic for your family to tell others about such a lovely trip and get more people exited.

A good intention thought can be real powerful. It must be your sincere and positive thought, the blessing etc that bring your family closer and deeper into Dharma Teaching.

I heard one person's thought can influence 100 persons in the surrounding ... that may explain how loving-kindness can be radiated ...

Feel happy reading this post.

Cheers crystal

Thanks,
we didn't get to have meal at his cafe during this trip but we did enjoy a lovely lunch box provided by volunteers from a local Buddhist society that we visited too.
The farm trip would have added more points if the aunties could also get to see their idol, bro Xie, but too bad he is not around.
:-)
Bro Xie and his team's loving -kindness is really admiring.
Their effort to protect the animals is commendable.:-)

Maybe, should feedback to have lunch at the Cafe and get them to whip up awesome and healthier Vegetarian lunch ... That might add more colour the trip, more excitements for the aunties - imagine such a wonderful small talk topic when they tell their friends and might even arouse the interest of other wanting to go and have a look.

Ha...ha..ha..., with Xie Shao Guang around, I believe the aunties would LOVE it, it is such a nice way to share, to spread awareness of kindness to animals ... :p

Those animals there where we can't see in the urban city, sure would bring back good old memories of the olden days for the elderly.

Such trip is also like a relaxing outing for them I guess, so it is a change of scenery (out of the concert jungle) without costing a bomb or any stress/inconvenience.

Anyway, you have a good and nice post on this.

Cheers : )
