A Slice of Life

Another nice meaningful email
----------------------------------------------------

The Pear Tree

There was a man who had four sons. He wanted his sons to learn not to judge things too quickly. So he sent them each on a quest, in turn, to go and look at a pear tree that was a great distance away.

The first son went in the winter, the second in the spring, the third in summer, and the youngest son in the fall. When they had all gone and come back, he called them together to describe what they had seen.

The first son said that the tree was ugly, bent, and twisted.

The second son said it was covered with green buds and full of promise.

The third son disagreed; he said it was laden with blossoms that smelled so sweet and looked so beautiful, it was the most graceful thing he had ever seen.

The last son disagreed with all of them; he said it was ripe and drooping with fruit, full of life and fulfillment.

The man then explained to his sons that they were all right, because they had each seen but only one season in the tree's life.

He told them that you cannot judge a tree, or a person, by only one season,
and that the essence of who they are and the pleasure, joy, and love that come from that life can only be measured at the end, when all the seasons are up.

If you give up when it's winter, you will miss the promise of your spring,
the beauty of your summer, the fulfillment of your fall.

Don't let the pain of one season destroy the joy of all the rest.
Don't judge life by one difficult season. Persevere through the difficult patches
and better times are sure to come some time or later.

If one is concerned about reciting incorrect pronunciation or missing words of sutra, one may recite this mantra 補缺真言 (3times) to "remedy" any errors.
An extraction to share from
http://www.buddha.twmail.cc/2-2/read_compensation.htm

真言原文
南謨喝囉怛那,哆囉夜耶。
佉囉佉囉。俱住俱住。
摩囉摩囉。虎囉,吽。賀賀,
蘇怛拏,吽。潑抹拏,娑婆訶。

qié là qié là。jù zhù jù zhù。
mó là mó là。hǔ là,hōnghè hè,
sū dá ná,hōngpō mò ná,suō pó hē。

-------------------------------------

In addition, he recommended before dedication of merits,
we first rejoice in the merits of all Buddhas & Bodhisattvas 随喜诸佛菩萨功德, then their great merits together with our small merits we dedicate to all sentient beings, our 祖先 ancestors, our 冤亲债主 karmic-debtors,and all those beings who suffer similar misfortune as who we are specifically dedicating for or what we are suffering from.
In this way, with the great merits of the Buddhas & Bodhisattvas, then we do not have to worry that our small merits have not much dedication effect.

Venerable greatly  advocates on Generosity on charity and life liberation, Filial Piety, Rejoicing on merits of others and generating Bodhicitta.
His compassion on all beings, especially on the lower 3 realms is touching and his repeated emphasis for all devotees to join him in the practice of Compassion and Buddhism somehow revoked my fading compassion and enthusiasm.

Rejoice on All and his merits...

Pardon is sought for any incorrect interpretation of above if any...
